LaBagh Woods Shadow Man
A group of friends were walking on the trails of LaBagh woods. It was early spring and unseasonably warm and wet. It had been raining all week and the forest floors were muddy and flooded in some parts. They stuck to the main trail, the paved ground easier to walk on except for puddles.
As the friends walked they chatted and laughed. Not many other people were out because of the weather. As the trail turned into a darker section of the woods one of them felt a chill run across their neck like a cold finger. They could not warm up.
While other friends made fun of their chilly companion, soon the others were feeling cold as well. A couple complained about odd rustling sounds that didn’t match the winds.
A large and dark shadow swept across the trail like a man running. The dark shape looked almost human and had long arms and pointy fingers. It’s long legs carried it down the trail where it turned and vanished into the dark trees.
Social Visits
Cemeteries used to be used as public parks and green spaces with many using the land to socialize, relax, and walk around. Many factors contributed to the change in use of cemetery land from burial practices to cultural attitudes. Along with cemeteries becoming specifically sanctioned spaces, forest preserves too became smaller sectioned off areas of land cultivated to provide access to a type of wilderness.
Bohemian National Cemetery boarders LaBagh woods. The cemetery itself contains many ghosts and ghost stories, and the cemetery also hosts events like concerts and film screenings.
